Can a Vietnam e-visa application be edited after submission?
Question:
Does the official Vietnam e-visa website allow you to add any missing information once submitted? I’ve just reviewed my visa application, and it says something was left blank. Will it allow me to fill the blank space and resubmit, or should I submit a new visa application? Time is of the essence, and I don’t want to resubmit it if they don’t allow edits after the fact.
Answer:
No, it doesn’t. Once you submit your e-visa application on the official Vietnam government portal, you cannot directly edit or add missing information through the system until the status changes to “Amendment required”. After clicking the final “Submit” button and making payment, your application is locked in the processing queue, and there is no built-in feature on the site for applicants to update details after submission.
Here’s what that means in practice:
- The official e-visa system does not allow you to edit or re-upload information after submission.
- If you realise something was left blank or incorrect after submission, you should wait until the visa status changes to “Amendment required” and the “Edit” button is visible.
- If the Vietnam Immigration Department notices a critical error, they might contact you via email requesting correction or clarification, and that is the only time you can update information on the same application.
Notice: If you realise your visa application is incorrect after submission – such as your full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, passport issue or expiry date, or intended date of arrival – and the Vietnam Immigration Department has not identified the error, your visa may still be processed with those incorrect details. In this case, the issued visa cannot be used to enter Vietnam. You will need to apply for a new visa or request a Vietnam e-visa correction service before traveling.
