Vietnam visa requirements for Haitian citizens: What you need for a successful e-visa application?
Haiti is not included in Vietnam’s visa exemption list; therefore, Haitian citizens are required to obtain a visa before entering Vietnam.
Currently, Haitian travelers are eligible to apply for a Vietnam e-visa valid for up to 90 days, with the option of single or multiple entries. To ensure your visa is processed smoothly within the standard 3–5 working days, it’s important to prepare all required documents carefully and provide accurate information during the application process.
There is also a visa exemption for Haitian citizens visiting Phu Quoc Island. Haitian travelers may stay visa-free on Phu Quoc for up to 30 days if the visit is direct and they do not leave the island to visit other parts of the mainland.
What you need to prepare?
To avoid delays or rejection when applying for your Vietnam e-visa, please make sure you have the following:
- Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Vietnam or at least 1 month beyond your planned exit date and contain at least one blank page for visa stamping;
- Scan copy of passport: Provide a clear, full-page scan of the passport data page (bio page) showing all details clearly, including your photo, personal information, and passport number;
- Recent portrait photo: A passport-sized photo taken within the last 6 months on a plain light background. The photo must show your full face clearly, with no hats or glasses that obscure facial features. It is not allowed to cropped a portrait photo from the scan copy of passport and use it in the visa application;
- Trip information: Include the intended entry and exit dates, port of entry and exit and the address of your planned accommodation in Vietnam.
- Personal information: You must provide your current residential address and an active telephone number in your home country. Additionally, include the name, relationship, address, and contact number of a person to be reached in case of emergency;
- Valid payment method: A credit or debit card that supports international online payments for visa fee.
How to complete the visa application form?
Normally, when you upload the scanned copy of your Haitian passport and portrait photo, the Vietnam e-visa portal will automatically extract your passport information — including your full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, and passport expiry date — to complete the application form.
You must carefully review and verify all extracted information to ensure it matches your passport exactly. Any discrepancy, typo, or incorrect detail may lead to visa denial or cause entry problems upon arrival in Vietnam.
What should you do after receiving the visa?
Once you receive your Vietnam e-visa from the official government website, you should immediately review all the information on the visa to ensure it is completely accurate. Pay attention to the following details:
- Full name: Your full name must include your middle name (if any). If the middle name is missing, the visa will not be accepted. For long names, ensure they are shortened correctly to match the ICAO line on your passport;
- Passport number: Double-check your passport number carefully. Be sure to distinguish between similar characters — for example, the letter “O” and the number “0”, or the letter “I” and the number “1”;
- Travel dates: Your actual date of arrival must not be earlier than the entry date stated on your visa. In addition, ensure your visa validity period fully covers your entire stay in Vietnam.
- Passport expiry date: Although this may seem like a minor detail, it is crucial that the expiry date on your visa matches your actual passport information. If it is incorrect, your visa will be considered invalid and you may be denied entry upon arrival.
