Vietnam visa exemption for Slovak citizens and conditions

Vietnam visa exemption for Slovak citizens and conditions

From 15 August 2025, Slovak citizens will be exempt from obtaining a Vietnam visa if they stay in the country for less than 45 days, along with other Vietnam visa free nationals. Under this policy, citizens of Slovakia now can enjoy a visa free travel to Vietnam provided they meet the following conditions:

  • Hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
  • Have at least two blank pages in the passport for entry and exit stamps.
  • Be prepared to present proof of an onward or return flight ticket upon entry into Vietnam.
  • Not be subject to any conditions or restrictions under Vietnamese law that prohibit entry.

What happens if the Slovak citizens are holding less than 6 months validity passport?

If citizens of Slovakia hold a passport with less than 6 months’ validity (but more than 1 month’s validity from the date of exit), they must apply for a visa to enter Vietnam. In particular, if the passport has less than 1 month’s validity from the date of exit or fewer than two blank pages for visa stamps, they must renew their passport before travelling.

Can I apply for a Vietnam visa while I am in Vietnam

No. If you wish to extend your stay in Vietnam, you must leave the country (commonly known as a visa run) and apply for a new visa from outside Vietnam. You are not permitted to apply for a new visa while remaining in the country.
