Vietnam visa for Chinese citizens – What is the fastest way to get a Vietnam visa?

Vietnam visa for Chinese citizens – What is the fastest way to get a Vietnam visa?

Starting from August 15, 2023, citizens of all nationalities – including Chinese citizens – are eligible to apply for a Vietnam e-visa. This is the fastest and most convenient way for Chinese travelers to obtain a visa for Vietnam.
The Vietnam e-visa is issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department through the official government visa portal. Normally, an e-visa is granted within 3-5 working days. However, in urgent cases, Chinese citizens can obtain an e-visa in as little as 1-2 working days, 4 working hours, or even 1-2 working hours.

Vietnam visa leaflet (loose-leaf visa) for Chinese citizens

Unlike most other nationalities, Chinese passport holders are typically issued a Vietnam visa leaflet (also known as a loose-leaf visa) rather than having an e-visa stamp placed directly in their passport. This is a separate sheet of paper issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department upon arrival, containing the holder’s personal information, visa category, and visa validity period.

Important: Keep your visa leaflet safe
Chinese citizens must carry their visa leaflet at all times throughout their stay in Vietnam. As a precaution, we strongly recommend taking a clear photo of your visa leaflet and saving it to your email along with your original e-visa application code. This can be invaluable if the leaflet is ever lost or misplaced.

If you lose your visa leaflet while in Vietnam
You must report the loss to your local police immediately to obtain a loss confirmation report. Then, bring the required documents – including your original passport and passport-sized photos – to the nearest Vietnam Immigration Department office to apply for an exit visa.

If you lose your visa leaflet while outside Vietnam
This situation most commonly affects holders of multiple-entry visa leaflets. A missing leaflet may cause difficulties during airline check-in when traveling to Vietnam. In this case, we recommend applying for a new e-visa and using it to enter the country.
If you are stranded at an airport due to a lost visa leaflet, please contact us and we can arrange an emergency e-visa to get you into Vietnam within a few hours.

How to ensure the Vietnam visa approval for Chinese citizens?

To maximize the chance of a successful visa approval, Chinese citizens should follow these important steps:

  • Apply through the official portal or a trusted visa agency
Submitting your application via the Vietnam government’s visa portal or a professional visa agency ensures accuracy and legitimacy.
  • Provide accurate and complete information
Double check that your passport details, personal information, and travel dates are entered correctly. Even small mistakes may lead to delays or rejections.
  • Prepare the required documents
A valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity and a clear scanned copy of the passport bio page are mandatory. A recent passport-sized photo will also be required.
  • Verify the payment
Always check your payment status to make sure the transaction has been completed successfully. Sometimes, you may believe that the payment went through, but when reviewing your visa application status, it still shows as “unpaid”If this happens, your application will not be processed, and you will need to submit a new visa application from the beginning. To avoid delays, double-check your payment confirmation immediately after completing the transaction.
  • Choose the right processing time
Standard e-visa processing takes 3–5 working days. If traveling urgently, select an rush visa service (1–2 working days, 4 working hours, or 1–2 working hours).
  • Avoid booking flights or hotels before approval
Wait until your visa is officially granted to prevent problems with cancellations or changes.

By carefully following these steps, Chinese travelers can ensure a smooth application process and timely visa approval for their trip to Vietnam.
