Why is your Vietnam e-visa application taking too long, and how to resolve it?
Your e-visa application submitted via the official government website typically takes 3-5 working days to process. However, if additional verification is required, the processing time may be extended.
According to the Vietnam Immigration Department’s official guidance:
“Electronic visas are typically processed within 3 working days after the electronic visa fee has been paid with complete and valid information.
If the application needs to be verified by the Vietnam Immigration Department, you will receive the results within 3 to 15 working days.”
If your e-visa application has been processing for more than 5 working days, follow the steps below to check and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check your visa status
Enter your application number, email address, and date of birth on the e-visa portal to check the current status of your application.
Step 2: Review your application details
If your visa application is in “Processing”, please select “Save form” to download the submitted application form as a PDF, and carefully review all information to ensure it exactly matches your passport details.
Step 3: Respond to “Amendment required” status
If your application status changes to “Amendment required,” review the reason carefully and update your information immediately. Common reasons include:
– Passport page and portrait photos are incorrect;
– Passport data page is blurry or unclear;
– Incorrect passport data page, please provide the passport data page without blurry text;
– Please provide a detailed address in Vietnam;
– Please review all your entered information to ensure accuracy (as the ICAO line);
– You are currently staying in Vietnam. Therefore, you are requested to exit from Vietnam prior to your resubmission documents;
– You are required to complete all the blanks in the application form;
If the issue is photo-related, refer to the Vietnam e-visa photo requirements to correct the problem.
If you are unsure about your accommodation address, contact your hotel or host for the full details.
If you are currently in Vietnam, you must exit the country and apply from abroad. You may refer to the Vietnam visa run process for more information.
Step 4: Resolve “Unpaid” status
If your application shows “Unpaid,” it means the payment was unsuccessful. You will need to resubmit the payment. Once the status changes to “Processing,” your payment has been successfully received.
